Captain Troy Pate

100 ton Master License

Capt. Troy is originally from Goldsboro NC, and grew up fishing eastern NC. He fished family boats from early the 1990’s until 2004, when he purchased and ran charters on a 33′ World Cat from 2005-2008.


Capt. Troy then ran the James Joyce II from early 2008 until the boat was put up for sale in January, 2017. He started running the Savanna Leigh in March, 2017.

Capt. Troy is a college graduate earning a BS in Business Administration (marketing and finance) in 1990. He owned a construction and restoration industry business until 2008. Beginning in 2013, Capt.


Troy has also run a commercial dive service in Carteret and surrounding areas.


First Mate Jake Boyd

OUPV Licensed Capt. Jake is originally from Grundy, VA and grew up fishing in the lakes, streams and creeks of Southwest Virginia. 


Jake served 29 years in the United States Marine Corps; enlisted at the age of 18, commissioned as a Warrant Officer and earned the rank of Major prior to his retirement in 2019. 


While stationed in Eastern, NC in 1998 he discovered his passion for saltwater fishing and has spent well over two decades fishing the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  Jake began working as First Mate on the Savannah Leigh after his military retirement in the fall of 2019.
